Apple Releases ‘Submerged’ Short Video on Vision Pro, Announces Upcoming Events With The Weeknd, NBA & More

Apple today launched a new feature film called Immersion in water for free on Vision Pro, allowing users to explore a disturbing story set during WWII. The company also announced its deep sequels, including NBA basketball documentaries, a music video from The Weeknd, immersive concerts and new episodes of Interesting.

Starting today, Immersion in water will be available at Apple TV for Vision Pro for users in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, UK and US.

As Apple’s first Vision Pro movie, the company says the “adrenaline-pumping gill ride” will put viewers in the middle of the action thanks to its stereoscopic 180-degree 8K video and aerial audio.

Shooting on location in Prague, Brussels, and Malta over the course of three weeks, Immersion in water it was a magnificent creation, sculpted using a 23-ton ship made of real iron, copper, and steel modeled after WWII-era ships.

“Key parts of this set are built to withstand total immersion, and feature camera traps and special effects specially designed to expose Apple Immersive Video cameras to fire, steam, water, and fire without disturbing the viewer’s senses,” Apple says. “Selected members who may seem restless or focused in 2D were carefully recruited, and participated in many experiments, including free lessons in swimming tanks and open water, to continue to practice and see reality.”

Apple also showed a five-minute behind-the-scenes video of the Immersion in waterdetailing how the film was captured in such a limited space.

The company also revealed new episodes, videos, series, and concerts recorded in Apple Immersive Video, which should appear on Apple Vision Pro for free in the US later this year, and will be available worldwide to follow.

In the third episode, “Ice Dive,” available this December, viewers are invited to dive alongside freediver Ant Williams as he attempts to break his record for the longest distance under the ice on a single breath. Early next year, viewers can see the beaches of Majorca, Spain, where world-class climber Kai Lightner tackles his biggest challenge yet: solo climbing on hidden cliffs and rocks, where one slip sends him into a raging sea.

The first part of this series of air travel shows around the world. In the first episode, “Hawai’i,” viewers will fly over mountains, climb over waterfalls, and discover the natural wonders of the world’s tallest islands. In the second part, “Maine,” which will be available later this year, viewers will see the autumn in New England, with a wonderful trip along the coast and amazingly beautiful rivers.
